Beliefs

Our Process

The creative process at Hepner Architects isn't bound by a fixed methodology because we are constantly exploring new ideas. We believe in listening, analyzing, and collaborating hand-in-hand with our clients. Together we formulate innovative yet enduring architectural solutions. Our designs are artistically refined, going beyond functionality. Program and context inform aesthetics, cultivating a unique character for each project. We provide solutions that promote flexibility and durability, resulting in creatively sustainable spaces. Throughout the design and construction process, our clients have the entire Hepner team, including our principals, at their disposal. Principals work hands-on, directing every project phase. We promise extensive collaboration from start to finish because, in the end, we want our clients to know that they were an integral part of their project's design; we simply guided their steps.

Sustainability

As architects, we feel a natural responsibility to build sustainably. As a firm, we’ve made sustainable design one of our core beliefs from the beginning. Our team consistently researches new building materials, lighting, and furniture trends to ensure that our buildings are as eco-friendly as they are budget-friendly. In 2008, we proudly designed the first K-12 LEED Silver Certified School in the entire state of Florida. Today, our firm’s passion for sustainability keeps us on the forefront of net-zero building design, finding new ways to optimize building performance over time.

Active Learning Environments

Design matters, just as much in the smallest material detail as in the tallest skyscrapers. That’s one reason why our designs for education transcend the concept of the traditional, static classroom box. Corridors and “in-between spaces” become equally important opportunities for collaboration. Our active learning environments are designed to promote flexibility in teaching and learning by providing solutions that support a variety of space configurations, uses, and technologies. We apply the same level of attention to interior design of these spaces. Acoustics, lighting, instructional tools, and furniture needs are carefully considered throughout our design process to create optimized collaborative spaces which inspire learning.
